Why you should have a Blog on your website

In short, a Blog is an article written on subjects your website visitors might find helpful.  You should write articles on subjects you have a lot of knowledge on.  Once you have these articles on your website, other websites might link to yours on the subjects that you have posted on.

Another reason is Google and other search engines, LOVE blogs.  This will enable you to have fresh content on your site, without changing much on your website.  Fresh content will always rank higher on Google and other search engines because it is newer content that they might not have indexed yet.  Older websites that do not update, will rank lower!

There are a lot of software packages out there that help you write these articles, such as WordPress or Joomla.  These software packages can be extremely helpful and make writing a blog easy to do.  If you know how to use Microsoft Word, then you pretty much know how to use the backends of WordPress and Joomla.

You should try to write at least 3-4 articles a month to obtain good SEO listings but try to write a minimum of 1 article a month.  You can also write articles all at once, and not publish them to the web until you are ready.  Good example of this would be write up Christmas articles in July, then tell your software to publish them in December.  This way you can write up all of your articles at once, then publish them throughout the year.

Remember fresh content is always good!

Your Keywords and how to use them!

Keywords should be where you focus much of your attention to detail.  These are the basic building blocks of SEO for your website, you need them!  Keywords should be used not only in your headings but throughout your content for your website.  Make up keyword phrases for your website.  Not just Contractor but Delaware General Contractor will be more effective for SEO on your website.  When creating a site here are the steps you should take.

  1. Think about your keyword phrases you would like to use in your website.
  2. Write headings (Use the proper H1 or H2 tags) using your keyword phrases.
  3. Continue to write your website content using these keyword phrases.
  4. Use the Keyword Phrases in your websites description.

If you use these practices your website will rank better in Google searches.  Just typing in keywords without using them in your content will punish your website in Google Rankings.

How to write a SEO correct Article

When writing an article for your website you should always be considering SEO and how to correctly use it.  Just sticking in H1 Tag Heading is the correct place and having some content below it will not be satisfactory.  You need to consider the following information:

<h1>Here is my H1 Tag </h1>

My Article blah blah blah.

The example above is a good one, but really when doing your article you need to consider 3 things:

- In your Metatag Keywords and your Metatag Description use the correct Keywords and Description of your business

- Put these keywords and phrases into your H1 Headings and articles

- Do not use H1 Headings incorrectly

- Use the Keywords and Phrases from your meta keywords and descriptions in your articles.

Here is a good example of your Keywords in use:

- Meta Keywords: General Contractor Home, Home Repair, Home Remodeling

- Meta Description:  Tom Green General Contractor for all your home Repair, and home remodeling needs

<h1>Your home repair specialist Tom Green General Contractor</h1>

<p>Tom Green General Contractors we are your home repair specialists in the Local Baltimore Area, Blah Blah</p>

In all of the examples above you will notice that all or most of the keywords are covered within this first section.  If we were to continue then you would see paragraphs below we would follow the same procedure.  Doing this will not only increase traffic to your site, but provide you with the tools necessary to get above your competition in the search engine rankings war!  Follow these steps here and your site will soar.  Please contact us for questions or a quote to SEO your site.

Don't Copy Content!

Of all our postings here is one of the most important things you should NOT DODo not Copy content from other sites and then pawn it off as your own.  Google will be able to tell that you have copied off this content.  This is not to say that you can't use it if it falls under the Fair Use laws.  Fair Use is the process of using GNU or Copyrighted content while giving credit to the original owners of the content, but you can't copy a whole site!  You can only use portions of their work, and then usually only by giving credit for the sites content.  Here is a excerpt from the US Copyright Office at

Fair use is a legal doctrine that promotes freedom of expression by permitting the unlicensed use of copyright-protected works in certain circumstances. Section 107 of the Copyright Act provides the statutory framework for determining whether something is a fair use and identifies certain types of uses—such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research—as examples of activities that may qualify as fair use.  Section 107 calls for consideration of the following four factors in evaluating a question of fair use.

We all know how easy it is to use another websites contents on your own website in this age of Copy and Paste.  Please refer to the link above to answer any legal questions you have.

Think Outside of Your Website!

SEO is so much more than just building it, then preparing it for SEO and so on.  Putting all of your eggs into one basket is genuinely one of the stupidest things you can do.  Just as with your nest egg you do not want to just dump all of your money into one investment, diversify!  This holds true with advertising on the internet.  Don't just build the most expensive and fancy website you can afford.  You need to invest in 50% into your site, and 50% into good SEO.

There are as many ways to "Think Outside of Your Website!" and get some good free advertising in return!

Social Media - Create A Facebook page not only is it free, but a good place to interact with your customers. Same with Indeed, Instagram, and YouTube just to name a few

Google My Business - Again if you have ever searched on Google and then came up with a map and listing of business in your area with your desired keywords you can get on this list for FREE! - A public forum for people to answer and ask questions about products, services and ideas.  Again FREE posts (Just don't post advertisements, post answers to people's questions then mention your business)

Yelp - Even though they accept advertising just listing with Yelp can help your business.

These are only a few of the outside services that can link to your website, creating some nice backlinks to your site.  Try other search engines such as Bing (Microsoft) or Yahoo (Verizon) and many others.  Just because Google is the biggest doesn't exactly mean you will not get additional traffic to your site.

One thing to remember is that the more work you put into something, the better it will become.  If you build it will they come?  That is the ultimate question for you to answer!
